In Ghent, the recordings have started for the new fiction series Without Appointment, a cooperation between Canvas and Willem Wallyn's production house W2.
Willem Wallyn previously co-wrote the screenplay of the other Canvas series De 16 and Albatros, but now he is the producer of Zonder afspraak: a contemporary tragicomic series about a hairdresser from Ghent who dreams of a musical career and gets his family, his environment and especially himself into trouble because of it.
The screenplay is by Nuran Karaca (Spitsbroers) and Yahya terryn (Professor T.), who also directs.
Without an appointment is a colourful comedy about the dreams we all cherish, the practical objections that stand in the way, and the sometimes surprising and far-reaching consequences when the two collide.
Aziz is 40 and runs the hair salon 'Zonder afspraak'. But actually he would much rather be a musician. One day he decides to go for it, helped a little by chance, an early midlife crisis and a neighbour who unwittingly gives him a push in the right direction. But standing between dream and deed are his wife, a pubescent daughter, a son with plans of his own, a paralysed father, a criminal brother-in-law and a gang of blackmailers. In short: the perfect arena for a sharp and fast comedy full of misunderstandings, frustrated ambitions, broken hearts, spirited quarrels and painfully recognisable confrontations.
The main roles are played by they form a beautiful and varied company.
ZONDER AFSPRAAK is produced for Canvas by Willem Wallyn (W2) with the support of the Flemish Audiovisual Fund, Screen Flanders, the city of Ghent and the fiscal support measures for audiovisual productions.
The broadcast is scheduled for spring 2023.
